  • Our first club ride will be July 20th Saturday, which will be to Rangeley Red Onion Restaurant. We all meet at Johnny Parking lot at 8:30 a.m.  We leave at 8:45 a.m. sharp! Our price will be $14.00 for the meal that includes taxes also and $2.00 for the tip. Our menu is Shrimp or Chicken Basket with fries or coleslaw,($15.97) Red Onion Burger Deluxe pepper jack cheese and caramelized onions($13.81), Small Pizza one Topping or Tuna Club Wrap cheese, tomato, and bacon. ($13.81), Grilled Chicken Sandwich with provolone cheese and pesto, lettuce, tomato and onions, chips or coleslaw, ($13.81). All meals come with a beverage and cookie.  Call Edie before Tuesday, July 16th.   We will collect the money for our meal and tips after the ride has started and when we stop for a break.   The next club ride will Aug 24 to Tim Pond. I will update you next month on that one.
  • Facebook is being followed closely by riders and comments are all favorable. They are usually thanking us for updating information on trails. I find that if the riders know why a trail is closed they are more willing to stay off from it. Have placed maps at Pines Market, Cathedral Pine and Flagstaff Fuel showing the trails closed. I will make one for White Wolf and Tea Pond as well.
  • Our Municipal grant has been finished, sent in and approved. Grant was done first for $55,464.00 but was amended to $61,464.00 to cover the cost of grading 3 sections of our trail system by Wagner.  We will be able to get 70% of that which would be $43,025.00 for work on our trails.
  • Lion’s Club Snack Pack Program motion made for $100.00 carried.
  • Family Fun Days $50 .00.
  • Cassandra Smith, daughter in law of our Treasurer and Assistant Trail Master. She and her husband Mike comes over every weekend they can from where they live in New Hampshire to help work on the trails. Cassandra works at Bobcat Rentals and was able to get her company to donate a small excavator last year for a week to use on the trails. Mike has donated his truck and heavy trailer to the club for the summer in order to transport both Backhoes to job sites when needed. They spent time last year on our trail system to GPS it on a program on a phone app called Hunt Stand and it marks areas that need trimming, culverts, water removal from the trail, brushing, etc. In February Cassandra was diagnosed with Liver Disease and is now on a waiting list for a liver transplant. She is taking part in a Liver Life Walk today in Boston to raise money for helping provide critical funding for medical research, public education, and patient support services. I would like a motion from the floor to make a donation to Liver Life Walk in Cassandra’s name. The motion was made and carried to donate $300.00 to Liver Life Walk in Cassandra Smith name. A separate donation basket from the members was passed away also for her walk this weekend.
  • The Lobster Raffle is going very well and most of our tickets have already been sold. The drawing will be at Family Fun Days on June 29th.
  • The theme for Family Fun Days this year is “For the Love of the Arts”. We will be doing our strawberry shortcakes, bottled water, memberships, and clothing sales. We will also be having Jeff and Linda doing doughboys and French Fries. Sandi is donating the strawberries, Nancy has offered to get gift certificates from Hannaford and purchase the whipped cream with them. I will ask Fotter’s for a donation of bowls, spoons, and napkins. Dianne and Edie will be making the biscuits. Workers taking turns for the day are Dale & Edie, Bruce & Dianne, A Fred & Gloria. We could use several pairs of hands on Saturday morning around 8:00 to set up the tents and tables.

  • Moose Trail Meeting was a very positive and good turnout. Still no connection from Rangeley to Rev It Up.
  • Oquossoc Club has a trail to Coos Canyon up around to Rev It Up and on to Phillips. Very long trail.  This trail system doesn’t connect to any Flagstaff ATV Club trails.

 Secretary Report:  Elaine Marcoux, erm@myfairpoint.net

  • Membership is 31 Businesses (5 new ones), 39 Newsletter and 49 Website members total 129. Last year at this time we had 125.
  • ATV Me has told me that the Businesses 2019 plates and new business plaques will be in the mail as soon as ATV Me gets them in.
  • Our 50/50 winner was Karen Murphy $19.00 and the door prize was to Elaine Marcoux a gift card from Flagstaff General.

Trail Master:  Dale Dunlap, breezy2@tdstelme.net

  • We have reset culverts at Johnny’s Park n’ ride and on the Eustis Trail by Perry Road.
  • Tim Pass: Two culverts got plugged so they got pushed up out of the ground and the water is running across the road between them.
  • Water has run down another section of our trail and created a huge crevice which is about 4 feet deep and 50’ long. It is still too soft for anyone to get in there with a dump truck to haul gravel to fill it. We are going back up to look at moving the trail over about 8’ to go around the ravine for right now. Both places have been flagged and caution signs were put up.  More brushing, water removal, water bars will need to be done.
  • Split Rock: Lots of brushing, ditching and water bars are needed but no major repairs.
  • Eustis Trail to Brochu Bridge has had 2 culverts reset, water bars, ditching, rock removal, and York raked.
  • Jim Brochu has done the trail from Quill Hill to Rt. 16 (Yellow Gate). Quill Hill will re-open June 29th and we plan to open that section then as long as it has dried out. Jim also went from Quill Hill Road to Flag Bridge where the trail crosses Rt. 16 for ditching, water bars and bringing gravel back into the trail.
  • Antler Hill Re-route has been measured, flagged and cleared so work should start on that shortly.
  • Butler Brook Trail has had minor repairs to some bridges and trimming done. More brushing needs to be done. On the upper side, Weyerhaeuser graded their road and set rocks across in 3 places to keep the trucks and jeeps off the road but are allowing openings for our ATV Trail to stay open. Please follow the signs and stay on the marked trails.
  • Canyon & Swamp Trails are closed due to logging there. Residents from Kennebago Road can access the trails to get out to the main trail.
  • Brian Bronson will be up shortly to help decide what we are going to do with the other end of Carrabassett Trail so that the trail can be opened.
  • Received an email from Weyerhaeuser on trial closures coming up due to logging.
  • June 1st until July 15th they will be in by the Wind Towers logging.
  • Sept. 15th – They will be in by our old Loop Road but trucking out of the Flagstaff Road so that the road will be closed. Hoping they will let us use it weekends like they did last year.
  • Sept. 15th – They will also be logging on our trail going into Tea Pond.
  • Wagner is grading 3 sections of our trails. Bridge Road which is by the Canyon Trail where they are logging now, Green Gate Road and Alder Road which are both on Tim Pass.  Please use caution when riding those trails.
  • Took bridge material into Natanis for their last bridge project.  Bob Adams had his crew work and the bridge is done. The club thanks you.
  • Now that we have a list of what needs to be done we will be setting up work parties and making phone calls to our volunteers.

Next Monthly meeting is July 14  at the Town Community Hall in Stratton at 10:00 a.m
