Flagstaff Area ATV Club Minutes – April 11, 2021

23 members were present. The meeting was brought to order at 10:00 a.m. by President Edie Dunlap with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Presidents Report:  Edie Dunlap,  breezy1@tdstelme.net

Would like to welcome our members old and new along with any guests to the meeting. Thank you all for keeping with the COVID protocol.

One of our guests at the meeting was Leeann Reid who works with Brian Bronson and the land owners checking trails and helping clubs with decisions on trail repairs and many other jobs as assigned. Brian cannot be in all places all the time so this will help him and clubs getting help with any information we need for work on the trails and questions that we have.

With this being our first meeting we did not have a lot of items to discuss. We will be working on the municipal grant within the next few weeks. There is a bill in the legislature to change the matching amounts for the grants to a 90/10. Before we had to have 30% of the amount of our grant in our treasury but if everything passes it will be only 10%. This will give clubs more money from the state to use on the trails and hire contractors to do the work that we are not able to.

Our biggest news is that Rangeley now has their own ATV Club back up and running. Jake from Boss has been working with Leeann, us and Brian Bronson to make it all happen this year. Their trail system will be all of Rangeley and up to the intersection by Quill Hill.

Tim Pond has contacted us about our annual ride for a cookout there. If we want to go in this year August 14th would be the best time for them. It was voted on to plan a ride in on that day.

We will start the raffle/door prizes at the next meeting and if anyone is interested in purchasing clothing please see me after the meeting.

ATV of Maine report: This was a zoom meeting. There will be no ATV Maine Banquet this month because of COVID issues, it is postponed until 2022. ATV of Maine decided to help all the clubs that are members with a gift of two game cameras for use on their trails. We received our two and the Trail Master and Assistant will be putting them out on trouble spots on our trail system. They wanted to let clubs know also if you are planning on an access trail on a state/town road you are responsible for the cost of the ATV signs and they usually average $150.00 a sign. Their next meeting will also be a zoom meeting on April 17th

Trail Master’s Report: Dale Dunlap, breezy1@tdstelme.net

Hoping the trails will dry up within the next couple of weeks so we can get out to clear out any debris and check the conditions of the trails. If anyone is interested in going out to check trails, please give me a call (643-2920) in a couple of weeks to find out if the trails are dry enough and which trail you are going to do so everyone is not doing the same trail. Thank you for any help you can give us.

We are still waiting for reports from landowners on any sections they feel will need major attention this year.

Our next meeting is Sunday, May 16th, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Stratton Community Building.
