Flagstaff Area ATV Club Minutes – October 11, 2020

15 members were present. The meeting was brought to order at 10:00 a.m. by President Edie Dunlap with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Presidents Report:  Edie Dunlap,  breezy1@tdstelme.net

Thank you to Jeff and Jen for allowing us to have our meeting here again this month.

We had a great day for our club ride to Kennebago Lookout. A total of 25 people enjoyed the trip and we had a great lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, 4 kinds of salads and lots of yummy desserts. Thank you to everyone who brought something to share and a thank you also to Looney Moose for providing the individual condiments as well.

We have received our second check from our grant, it is now at the Town Office and it will get picked up Tuesday and deposited. We will have one more part going in which includes a couple of small jobs done, Grading for McLucas, J. L. Brochu – grading, shared cost of bridge with Wagner and Brochu’s last bill for the Carrabassett Trail. Once that is done we will have a better idea on the additional amount we may need from the state.

The Penobscot Indians and Carrabassett have reached an agreement that allowed the ATV trails to open back up again. Their trails will close on November 1st when ours do.

The 2014 Polaris ATV that the club had up for bid was bought and will make some grandchildren real happy!

The State ATV Program sent gators to recognize our volunteers from last year. They were not able to do it in the spring as the annual banquet was canceled because of COVID.

At our next meeting we will have election of officers. Last year we had a Christmas Party afterwards, but after considering everything going on with COVID I feel that we should not have one this year and hopefully be able to again next year. Refreshments are not a big problem but handling of gifts with everyone may present some risks. The objective this year is keeping everyone safe. Board of directors (Lee Morin)

Last year we had an additional meeting in November for our first Christmas Pot Luck and Yankee swap. Everyone had a good time and was looking forward to doing it again this year. However with all the risks with COVID and handling food, gifts etc. all the members present decided not to have one this year and hope to be able to do it again next year.

Election of Officers was held with Edie Dunlap, Sandi Isgro and Gloria Smith staying with their present positions for another year. Dianne Wyman was nominated for the secretary’s position and voted in by the members present. Dale Dunlap and Fred Smith will both be staying on as Trail Master and Assistant for another year. Lee Morin volunteered to stay on for another term on the Board of Directors and was voted on and approved by the members present.

Vice President: Sandi Isgro, sandi.whitewolf@gmail.com

Sandi talked about how important it was for the Carrabassett Trail to open back up for the Moose Trail. There are talks going on with the new owners of Saddleback so hopefully we will be able to make a connection next year to complete a loop again.

I have gotten a post hole digger for my Kubota so Fred and I went over and helped Jake in Rangeley put the gates we had previously purchased in at the two landowners property’s on Depot Street.

Jim Brochu graded the trail from Brochu Bridge south to Route 16 and also worked with Wagner to replace the two culverts on Tim Pass with a bridge. He will be finishing up with the Carrabassett Trail this month. All trails will be shut down November 1st at landowner’s request.
