Sandi Isgro, Vice President's Report

Several incidents have occurred in the past months where riders have abused trails and authorities did not pursue the issue.  There was a lot of discussion about this problem.

In consideration that we lost the right to ride on Penobscot Nation Lands because one person abused the privilege, it was deemed necessary to do something to protect our trails.

The club members authorized the board to pursue avenues to gain support from state authorized personnel to police our trails.

Bob Dennett, Treasurer's Report

All bills are paid and the 1st installment on the Grant has been received.

We are in great shape financially for all the work we're planning to do next year.

We donated $150 to the Annual Toy Run.

Ruthanne Smith, Membership Report

We have 264 paid members.

ATV Maine Calendars are in.  The calendars are $10 each.  The raffle will be pulled starting in December for each day of the month.  A winner each day will draw either $125 or $250.  There are only 6 left if you would like to purchase one, contact Ruthanne at 246-3201.

Dick Smith, Trail Master's Report

August 11th Dick put up signposts at Antler Hill Road, King & Bartlett Road and Bradbury Brook Road.  Dick also did corduroy on the Pines Trail.
Aug 12th & 14th Dick did more corduroy on the Pines Trail.
August 15th Ray, Pete, Phil, Jeff and Dick did cutting and ditching with the backhoe on Bradbury Brook.
August 16th we had the Club ride into Tim Pond Camps for supper and there were 14 quads and 25 members and friends present.
August 21st Dick took the backhoe to Bradbury Brook and ditched and drained waterholes for 9 hours.
August 27th Don and Dick did a waterbar and ditching at Bradbury and repaired the washout at the parking lot.
August 29th Don and Dick checked and reopened the Natanis Trail at Bugeye that had to be closed while the windpower team built a road to the top.
September 6th Mike and Dick rode Antler Hill and Bradbury, it was finally drying up.  At the mudhole we met a group of ten from New York, two of them were trying the mud, neither of them made it through but they were having a great time.

You will notice that all work stopped as of Aug 22nd.  I was working on Bradbury beside the K&B Road pulling rocks and stumps when four riders went by on the K&B Road ignoring four No ATV signs that said to stay off the road.  At that point all the spirit went out of me.  I felt that all my hard work put into cutting and developing the trails could be lost in a heartbeat just like Alder Stream.  It is very disheartening to work building trails only to find that irresponsible people only want to ride where they want to on roads they are not suppose to be on.  At that point I picked up my tools and went home vowing to never pick up another rock or stick from the trails.  I striped both my quads of tools and was calling it quits.  After three very sad weeks I have been thinking of all the fine people who appreciate the trails and read and obey the signs.  I really love what I do and do not want to let the good people down so I will be back on the job.  Dick Smith, Trailmaster.

Meeting Adjourned at 11:00 a.m.

Our next meeting is October 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Building.  Our meetings are held March through October at the Community Center in Stratton.  Meetings are held the 2nd Sunday of each month at 10 a.m.  October is election of the officers.  We really need someone to run for Secretary.  All positions can be shared.  Please think about how you might be able to help.  The club needs you.
