Don Plante, President's Report
Meeting opened at 10:05am and 21 people and Jake the dog attended.
Don started the meeting at 10:05 with a salute to the flag. Don talked about the trail closures at Alder Stream and possibly at Stratton Brook Road. Renewal of the ATV Maine Insurance will be due by June 15th, at the cost is $500. It was voted to renew it again for another year.
Don discussed Family Fun Days to be held on June 27th, 28th and 29th. We will be doing our strawberry shortcake sale as well as tee shirts, sweatshirts, vests and caps on Saturday the 28th after the parade. Anyone wishing to ride in the parade is welcome to join our Trail Master, Dick Smith. The theme for this year's parade is "Remember Flagstaff"; you can decorate your 4 wheeler if you would like to. We will have candy available to toss out to the children in the parade.
The Wilton Sportsman Show was discussed and the advance deposit was passed by the membership.
We want to thank Andy Brann of Absolute Services for donating two loads of gravel valued at $140. We would also like to thank Brian Ricker for donating his time and equipment to spread a load of gravel behind the Eustis parking lot. Peter Manter and Ron Mc Carthy donated steel needed for a post driver, many thanks to both. The steel was also used for reinforcement of the trailer hitch in order to tow the new backhoe.
Don talked about an ATV safety course and we need to have an idea of how many would possibly attend. We have had great success in the past with a lot of interest. We hope to have a date available soon. The course is free and will be held at the Community Center.

Dick Smith, Trail Master's Report
May 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 12th, Dick cleared trail on the Sawyer Brook connection to Alder Stream. He also checked with the AFM forester to see if we could open on Memorial Day weekend. He said it would be okay. He also took down some of the closed signs at this time.
May 13th Dick finished cutting the Sawyer Brook Connection to the Nations boundary. Dick and Don picked up the tow behind backhoe in Wilton.
May 16th Dick added a ramp on the snowmobile bridge near Route 16. He checked and signed Split Rock Loop and picked up the snowmobiles rubbish from the winter.
May 18th Dick and Ruthanne opened the North Branch bridge and took down some more closed signs. They also cleared and signed Lone Pine Road and ten miles of Antler Hill Road. They checked End of the Lake Road and replaced signs, and also checked and signed part of East Branch Road.
May 19th Dick and Ruthanne did signing on Nash Stream, Parking Lot and Alder Stream road and cleared blowdowns.
May 20th Dick cleared part of the Antler Hill trail to the bridge site.
May 21st Don checked and cleared End of Lake trail and the Natanis trail to Bugeye.
May22nd Dick opened the Brochu Bridge and rebuilt the signpost behind the Arnold Trail Service Station. He received a call from the Nation that we were losing the Snow Mtn Loop. He had to close the Alder Stream trails until it is settled.
May 23rd Neal, Jeff and Dick cleared 200 yards of the Bradbury Brook end of Antler Hill. Neal, Ray, Phil, Lee, Pete and Dick fixed the gate opening at Half-Mile Brook on the Natanis trail.
May 24th Neal, Jeff and Dick cleared and resigned the Quill Hill Loop including the NEW Quill Hill Overlook, it is really awesome. Don replaced several broken planks on the Pines Boardwalk. The Natanis crew fixed several box culverts.
May 25th Neal, Jeff and Dick explored possible trail paths on the Antler Hill and Bradbury Brook connections. Pete, Ray, Phil and Lee hauled rocks to build up the trail opening at Half-Mile Brook gate.
May 27th Don and Dick met with Sparky Clark from the Nation in Stratton about the Alder Stream closing. We would end up with about 7 miles of road, we did not think it was worth it and did not sign the permit. Alder Stream will be closed until the Council meets at the end of June. Because one person didn't obey the rules we lost 30 miles of trails, excavator work, 4 bridges and 3 years of hard work! He had to place CLOSED signs at all access points to Alder Stream. We are holding up work on the Carrabassett trail until the permits are definite. That will require another 40-foot bridge.
May 28th Neal, Bill and Dick rode to the Antler Hill bridge site to flag a connection to Antler Hill Road.
May 29th Neal, Bill and Dick cut and cleared about 150 yards of Bradbury Brook to Antler Hill Road.
May 30th Neal, Bill and Dick rode and cleared the Carrabassett trail to a half a mile down the powerline, it is too wet at this time to continue.
May 31st Dick took the backhoe to Perry Road and tried to open and drain the culvert, it will need more work.
June 1st Neal, Bill and Dick took the backhoe out on the Eustis to parking lot connector and drained two big water holes.
June 6th Don and Dick put metal signposts in at the orange gate on Route 16 and on the Stratton to Rangeley trail. They took the backhoe to Antler Hill and opened a beaver blocked culvert and opened a waterbar to get to the bridge site.
June 7th Don and Dick put in a metal signpost at the corner of Route 27 and Stratton Brook Road. They took the backhoe to the Stratton/ Rangeley trail and started to clear some of the slash.
The club voted to give Dick $1,500 to set up an account for emergency trail needs. Don will also be on that account.
