Flagstaff Area ATV Club Meeting

March 13, 2011

1.) Meeting brought to order at 10 AM with The Pledge of Allegiance by president Don Plante. 23 members present

2.) Presidents Report: Don Plante damp@tds.net

  • Stratton PTC thanks the club for donation
  • Western Maine Toy Ride also thanked the club
  • Life Flight–We have 4 marked areas for landing the life flight. Emergency medical teams can now get to our trails
  • We have insurance through ATV Maine.  Reminder that if you are working on the trails put up signs letting riders know that there is work being done up ahead
  • Don has been working on a 10 day registration with the state & ATV Maine.  State has increased the fine for unresistered machines to $250.00.  LD-175 is the bill number that would alow the 1o day registration.  Please support it.
  • Lobster Bake Raffle–thank you Emerson Dyer for printing the tickets.  Tickets on sale for $5.00.  Winners receive 20 lobsters,  5 pounds of potatoes and 10 ears of corn.  Drawing is on June 25 at Family Fun Days
  • Winslow Sportsman Show is March 18-20.  25 Vertie Drive, Winslow, right off 201 Sukee Event Center  Friday 1-7, Saturday 9-9 and Sunday 9-5.

3.) Vice President Report:  Sandi Isgro whwolf@tds.net

  • Premiering Moose Loop new connecting trail around Franklin County–Maps are on sale $4.00.  Trail signs are being made.  There will be a kick off on June 25th in Rangeley at the Country Club.  Senator Olympia Snowe will be in attendence.  More info to follow.
  • Sweatshirts, hats and hooded sweatshirts will be ordered for sale

  • Pine Tree Society $100 donation
  • $200.00 for Web Hosting — paid
  • We are in good shape for the upcoming season
  • $2500.00 transferred to the trail fund
  • Money allocated to pay for a new trailer built by Dick.  Thank you

5.) Membership Secretary:  Ruthanne Smith Dooer@tds.net

  • I want to thank everyone that has returned their applications, as of Friday 3/11/11 we have 77  paid members and I made a deposit of $1,375.00 which included 77 members and many donations.  Due to the cost of postage there will be only 1 newsletter sent out to all past members. Please send in your memberships  as soon as possible.  I do want to mention that in addition to membership cards, stickers and maps they will also receive membership in ATV Maine.  They provide $2500.00 in accidental death and dismemberment insurance for primary members and their immediate family as well as all supporting businesses.  Another benefit is that they also offer liability and event insurance to all affiliated clubs.

Trail Master Report:  Dick Smith Dooer@tds.net

  • February and March I contacted Wagner, Plum Creek and AFM for 4 different connections to our trail system totalling approximately 11 miles.  Have heard nothing yet
  • March 5th I got the bucket back for the excavator.  It has been rebuilt, hard welded and has 4 new replaceable teeth.  It has been repainted, the oil changed and a new battery.  There is a bogie wheel to be fixed.   I built a small trailer to put the excavator on with hopes to pull it behind the Rhino.  
  •  I have to have 1 chainshaw worked on at brady’s and change the oil in the Rhino.
  • I have 5 property permits to renew
  • I have received a call from Nadine at Sugarloaf  WSKI TV to do a live interview on Saturday March 26th at 8:30 PM  She also inquired if it would be possible for Don to join me. 
  • We had Life Flight come up here and meet with the ATV club and Arnold Trail Snowmobile club and the game wardens and fire dept.  We went for a ride and established 2 new rescue zones one of which is on our trail system.  JR is also sending signs for 3 more of our rescue zones
