Flagstaff ATV Trails will not be opened for Memorial Day Weekend. We are in hopes that they will be open June 1st. There is still snow and frost out on the trails. Please respect our landowners and stay off the trails. Thank you.
It is with very heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our members Joe Gallant who passed away peacefully on April 27, 2020 with his wife and two daughters by his side. He had a special place in his heart for each person who touched his life over the years. He acquired many dear friends he called family, especially his bonus family “The Roxbury Pond Tribe.” He always had a fun time doing what he loved, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, and just being around people. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, married just shy of 49 years; daughters, Becky and husband Rick Grant of N. Monmouth, and Jeanna and husband Mark Dugal of Lisbon Falls; two grandchildren, Mackenzie Grant and Kylan Dugal; brothers, Ronald and wife, Lun Gallant of Florida, Richard and wife, Jenn Pitcher of South Arm, and his two sisters, Sheila St. Cyr of New Castle and Debra and her husband Jeff Tucker of Gorham; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe, you will be missed deeply by your family and friends.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Joe was very involved with our club and always one of the first to volunteer to do anything that needed to be done. Last year when Dale asked for volunteer’s to take care of sections of our trails the first name of the list was his. I know we all have a story we can share about working with him and many laughs we have had with him out on the trails. For me, I will really miss his smiling face when I look out at the members attending our meetings and having him for a friend.

Due to COVID-19 the April 19th club meeting will be cancelled and the next meeting will be May 17, 2020.
The Carrabassett Trial will now be open starting tomorrow 6/28. All the old broken bridges have been replaced. The trail from the Plum Creek Road to Route 27 is still muddy some from all the work done on it last weekend. Extremely thankful for the 20 people who showed up on Saturday and 14 that showed up on Sunday to help make this happen. 10 hours each day and a lot of hard work by the volunteers both members and non-members. Also a big thank you to Hammond Lumber for helping with the lumber and delivering it to us.
Quill Hill will be opening on Saturday 6/29. The Canyon trail will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays only until the logging is done in there. During the week you will only be able to assess Quill Hill from the trail between Rangeley and Stratton. PLEASE do not use Canyon trail Monday through Friday or we will lose it completely until they are done logging a few weeks from now. They are logging on the trail. Swamp Loop trail has been closed by one of the landowners and will not reopen.
Brochu Bridge has been re-opened to ATV traffic.
We just got word that logging will be started at the Brochu Bridge tomorrow. The trail will be shut down from Rt. 16 to Intersection #17. Unfortunately, that will mean there is no trail between Stratton and Eustis that is open. We are working with the paper company to see if we can use it on Saturday and Sunday until they are done. Please stay off the closed trail, if we don’t I am sure they will not be willing to work with us on any partial use. It is expected to be a very short time so please have patience.
Our ATV trails will not be opened for Memorial Weekend. We do hope to have them opened by June 1st.

The Flagstaff Area ATV Club has named a section of our trail from intersection #26 to Trails End Steak House the Richard “Dick” Smith Trail in memory of our beloved former Trail Master Dick Smith who passed away 7/21/2018.
