Presidents Notes
A meeting was called to order on 4/9/06 at the Community Building. All were welcomed and the agenda was presented. Representatives from Tea Pond, Tranquility Lodge, Kerns & Boneheads were present. A copy of the proposed By-laws was read to the members and additions or deletions were made at that time. These will now be retyped and submitted to the members at the next monthly meeting for review and final acceptance. The Trail Master reported on upcoming work and said that members will be called that have offered their time to help. Once the work on the trails starts it will be an ongoing process through the season. Representatives from Tranquility & Tea Pond wanted to know if the club would be interested in doing some sort of activity for Family Days or later during the summer. The members decided to continue this discussion at the next meeting. It was voted on and passed to hold monthly meetings, year round due to the fact that conditions arise during off-season that need attention prior to the start of the next ATV season. It was brought up that the club members should think of ways to bring more money into the organization. Members present decided to think on this and revisit the idea at the next monthly meeting.
Vice Presidents Notes
There was an overview given of how the Flagstaff Area ATV Club started and how far it has come along in 5 short years. From 2 people
(Sandy Isgro and Granny Carter), 0 trails to the 112 miles that we have today.
Trail Masters Notes
Boralex gave us the power line to Mainly Yours and the Spillover Motel. We had a complaint from a Eustis Ridge Road resident that we put brush on his land. In reality it was put there before we had the trail. He was satisfied that we will remove it. Trail work will begin in a few weeks and signing will be a priority. We have a bridge and culvert to replace on the Salt Shed Road. We have 2 truck loads of wood chips to spread on the Pines trail and a 5th plank to add to the boardwalk. I got a call that Plum Creek is considering my request for a connection to Alder Stream. We have a problem on Bag Mountain. The trail is washing away and we'll need to fix it. We do have a trail closure of approximately a mile on the Split Rock Trail out of Eustis. We went to the Wilton Sportsman Show and it was a big success. There was a tremendous amount of interest in our area.
Membership Notes
Ruthanne was happy to report that we now have a secretary to share the workload with her. She is Nancy Hanson and is heartily welcomed. The invitations sent to rejoin the club showed a good return (134 members to date). Ruthanne also offered the ATV Maine raffle calendars. The web site was down for several days and could not be updated. We are happy to report that we are now back online.
Treasurer's Notes
It was voted not to publish the exact amount of what the club has in the checking account. You can contact Bob Dennett at 846-3996 or e-mail him at rdennett@maine.rr.com for this information.
