Flagstaff Area ATV Club Minutes – April 13, 2025

26 members/ guests were present. The meeting was brought to order at 10:00 a.m. by President Edie Dunlap with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Presidents Report:  Edie Dunlap, breezy1@tdstelme.net

It was really nice to see a great crowd for our first  meeting. Everyone is looking for spring and getting to ride the trails.

Our first business to do was Election of Officers. A motion was made to vote all current Officers in for another year and was approved by the voters. Edith Dunlap: President, Sandi Isgro: Vice President and Gloria Smith: Treasurer. The Secretary’s position is still open and looking for someone to fill it. Members also asked Dale Dunlap: Trailmaster and Fred Smith: Assistant Trail Master to stay on as well, and they agreed to. We had 2 positions to fill on the Board Of Directors and 3 volunteers. All 3 were voted by the majority to serve as Directors. The Directors are Bruce Marcoux (whose term expires next year), Chris Currier, Jeff Babineau and Ray Peavey.

The club would like to thank Jeff Hamilton for his years on serving on the board, we appreciated your time and help.

An Alternate director for ATV of Maine was needed and Chris Currier has volunteered for this position.

We will check with Tim Pond on a date for our ride and lunch at their camps in August. We will have our end of the year “Members appreciation” cookout the last Saturday in September (27th) at Natanis Point Campground. Instead of a ride to Rangeley in July, it was brought up to do a ride to the new Gazebo on the Canyon trail. Everyone could bring their own lunches and there is a grill there if you want to bring something to cook.

Family Fun Days is June 28th this year and the theme is “A Day at the Beach”. I am not sure about doing the Strawberry Shortcakes this year. Last year there were a lot of Food Trucks with desserts and ice cream so we only ended up making about $125.00 for all the work that needs to be done for the day. I will check with the Rec Director to find out if they will have a lot of food trucks there again this year. We will have a discussion next month on if we are going to do it this year. We would like to see lots of ATV’s in the parade this year!

The town had the lease drawn up for the property on John’s Road for the ATV and Snowmobile Club which was signed by both of us. The town has agreed to lease it for $1.00 for 5 years and can be re-newed each 5 years increments. It has been paid for the next 25 years. Most of the land has been cleared and this spring Peter Farnsworth, Kirk Williams and representatives for both the ATV club and Snowmobile will go to the site and have discussions on what each club plans to do. There will be a park n ride there that both clubs will be able to use. We will eventually move the club’s container there, along with culverts, trailers, etc. Until work is done at that property we will continue with our Park n Ride on Caldwell Road for this year.

There will be a meeting at the Community Building April 30th at 6:00 for town officials, businesses in town and other’s that are interested in having the Moose Lottery here in Eustis in either 2 or 3 years!

At the end of the year we had received from the state an extension of our grant to help pay for the work on the new trail from the North Side of Brochu Bridge to the Canyon Trail. After paying for the trail we had $6,073.57 left from that extension. As the Trail Masters Account had a balance of $795.38 left in it the grant money was deposited into the Trail Masters Account to

We have been very fortunate the last few years to have the use of Mike Smith’s truck and trailer to transport the excavator with, as the club’s trailer is not rated for transporting the excavator. Mike is Fred and Gloria’s son from New Hampshire. The trailer is showing it’s age and going to require some work if we continue to use it. A discussion by officer’s and club members was for the club to buy a new 2025 trailer that is 4 feet longer and rated for 14,000 lbs. This would make it easier to transport the excavator and skidsteer on. We have looked at several places and Scott’s Recreation has what we need for $6, 090.00 and includes ramps and a tool box. This trailer will still only require a ¾ ton pickup for hauling. Mike’s truck that he is letting us use still is a ¾ ton as well as Dale’s. The club will keep the small club trailer (it does need a new tire as one has a bulge in it) as sometimes when Fred is working the excavator on one side of the trail system, Dale may be doing a project on the other side and that trailer can transport the Kubota tractor. After discussions it was voted on and approved to purchase the Trailer and some binders and chains if needed.

Trail Master’s Report: Dale Dunlap, breezy1@tdstelme.net

We hope the trails will be ready to open by Memorial Day Weekend. Still too wet to get on them right now.

Besides our new trail from Brochu Bridge to Canyon Trail we hope to be able to use the new trail that the Snowmobile Club built last winter. This would be for the trail connection from Quill Hill to Stratton that was closed last summer. We are still working with AFM on the end section on the trail. It depends on where they will be cutting where we can go. I hope to have more information at the next meeting.

We have made contact with the person that we got our hay from last year and he has another 80 or 90 bales for us again this year. His price is the same and will be $5 a bale. We will pick them up next month.

Meeting adjourned at  11:10 am. 50/50 was won by Debbie Currier who donated it back, thank you Debbie.      Door Prize was won by Chris Currier.

Our next meeting will be on May 18th 2025, at 10:00 am at the Stratton Community Building.
