The Flagstaff Area ATV Club trails closed on Friday, November 1, 2024. They will reopen next spring.
It is September 1st and the Penobscot Indian Land is now closed for their hunting season. It will re-open next spring. There have been signs stating that in the past but this year gates have been installed and locked on both ends of their land. See the picture below of where this is on our trail system (Sawyer Brook Trail). You can still access Tim Pass and Split Rock without needing to cross the closed section of the trail. There are signs on each side letting riders know there are locked gates so they won’t have to ride all the way in and then have to turn around and ride all the way back! Thank you riders and thank you to the Penobscot Indians here that allow us to use their land as part of our system from spring until now.
Trail Closure: The trail that crosses the Indian Land on upper Sawyer Brook Trail will be closed Thursday night and Friday (27 & 28th). We are going to have a major piece of equipment on that trail trimming back the alders to widen the trail back out. PLEASE stay off the trail at that time as there is not enough room for the equipment and an ATV, plus what is thrown up by the work. It hopefully will be done by the end of the day Friday and we will open the trail back up. Thank you. You can still access Tim Pass and Split Rock using the bypass trail which is now open and you can get to Tea Pond as well.
Attention Riders on Our Trail System: The north side of Brochu Bridge has active logging going on. Their machinery is using part of the trail system to haul out the logs. If you could avoid using that trail during the week (while they are working during the day) it would really help and maybe keep us from getting the trail closed down until they are done working there.
With all the rain we have had and the machinery on the trails it has created some pretty muddy and slick spots. Please use caution and again also avoid that trail during the week if at all possible. Thank you.
Flagstaff ATV Club would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Jason and Linda Beever for allowing us to open up a new Park n Ride in Eustis for ATV’s. It is located on Caldwell Road which is just above where the previous Park n Ride was. When you turn up Caldwell Road you will see signs on the road to direct you to the entrance, 1/10 mile up on the left. It is right beside the trail so you will be able to unload and get on the trail. Please be mindful of people that live right around this Park n Ride and keep ATV noises at a minimum. There will be no overnight parking and please do not litter. As everyone knows trails and park n rides can get closed quickly because of people who do not respect the landowners. Again we really appreciate Jason and Linda for making this happen!
Trails are closing today, October 23, 2022, for 2022 Season. Please join us again next year for trail riding with the Flagstaff ATV Club.
The section of Sawyer Brook Trail that crosses the Penobscot Indian Land is now closed for their hunting season.
The following is a list of our scheduled Flagstaff ATV Club Meetings:
April 10
May 15th
June 12th
July 10th
August 7th
September 11
October 9th
The Club ride for a cookout at Kennebago Lookout will be this Saturday, Oct 2nd. If you are planning to go please let me know before tomorrow when we pick up the food. We will be leaving the Eustis Park n Ride (just past the Pines Market on the left) around 9:30. Bring your own drink (we will have water) and a chair if you want one. Looks like a nice day but a little cool.
TEMPORARY CLOSURE: Split Rock Trail will be closed Monday – Friday, open Friday night, Saturday and Sunday starting Monday September 27 for a couple of weeks because of logging on the trail. Please respect the landowner during this closure and stay off the trail – they were the ones that helped us to re-open Split Rock Trail this summer and will allow weekend use until back open in a couple of weeks. With the work done on Elephant Head the ride around Tim Pass will be much easier and still allow passage towards Eustis and Tea Pond.
