Dick’s wife Ruthann, Trail Master Dale Dunlap and Former Trail Master Joe Marcoux

The Flagstaff Area ATV Club has named a section of our trail from intersection #26 to Trails End Steak House the Richard “Dick” Smith Trail in memory of our beloved former Trail Master Dick Smith who passed away 7/21/2018.

Dick was our Trail Master for 13 years. He envisioned and built the Butler Brook, Bradbury Brook and Lake Loop Trails. We all know he was happiest when he was on the Mini-Excavator working on our trails, repairing and maintaining them for the riders. He regularly stopped to chat with riders and ask for their impressions of our system. Comments were taken to heart and any concerns quickly addressed. Dick and Don Plant were our designated rescue team for ATV’s in distress/lost and responded to even midnight calls to help those lost in the woods get safely back home. His knowledge and expertise along with his passion for ATV’s and the club will be sorely missed.
