Flagstaff Area ATV Club Minutes – June 9, 2024

15 members were present. The meeting was brought to order at 10:00 a.m. by President Edie Dunlap with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Presidents Report:  Edie Dunlap, breezy1@tdstelme.net

Welcome, old and new members.

Edie has contacted the Red Onion in Rangeley and the tentative date for our ride is Saturday, July 20th. She should know in the next couple of days. We do not have the date for Tim Pond ride in August yet and our end-of-year cook out at Natanis will be the last Saturday in September, which is the 28th. Family Fun Days will be the first weekend in August again this year so will keep that in mind for club participation.

There has been quite a bit of logging going on at Harris Pasture (Canyon Trail). One of the landowners who had a lot of wood cut around his camp now has a beautiful view from his property, where the ATV trail is. He has had a side section leveled and is building a gazebo with plans on putting 2 or 3 picnic tables in it for riders to stop to eat or just sit and enjoy the view.

Our grant was submitted to the state for $66,922.50. The state approved the grant for $66,700.00 so at 90% reimbursement, we will receive $60,030.00

We received a thank you letter from Pine Tree Camp for our yearly donation.

Last meeting, the members voted to donate $100.00 to Sandi Isgro’s bikes that she places around the town. This year, she is using silk flowers in place of real ones.

Gloria and Edie have been out signing the last 2 weeks and have just one short section of trail left to do and then all our open trails have been checked. Next week, we plan on doing some scouting up at Natanis on part of the old trail to find where the connection came be made with a trail coming up from the Indian Land.

Vice President: Sandi Isgro, sandi.whitewolf@gmail.com

Sandi asked about signs to put in stores asking ATV riders to please stay on marked and open trails. She has had riders come in who have said they have been on closed trails.

Entrance to Tea Pond Trail was closed with rocks.

Bridge on Split Rock was fixed where one end was washed out.

Bridge by McCarthy Hill just before Tim Pond Road has been flagged in one section because of a washout and has been reported to Weyerhaeuser as it is one of their truck bridges.
