Flagstaff Area ATV Club Minutes – August 11, 2024

12 members were present. The meeting was brought to order at 10:00 a.m. by President Edie Dunlap with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Presidents Report:  Edie Dunlap, breezy1@tdstelme.net

Welcome, old and new members.

The date for our ride and lunch into Tim Pond will be August 24th, and our end-of-year cook out at Natanis will be the last Saturday in September, which is the 28th

The ride for Tim Pond will leave Eustis Park n Ride at 9:30. Lunch will be Turkey pie with dessert and drink. The cost is the same as last year: $15.00 per person. We need a count for the number of people by Monday, August 19th that are going, so please call, (207-431-0922), email or message me by then. We have to let them know how many we have coming the week before the ride so they know how much food to get and we pay them for that number. If you sign up to ride in for lunch, please show up for the ride, Thank you. It is rain or shine but if you do not want to ride in you can drive in to the camps and meet us there.

Family Fun Days was last weekend. It was good weather and we did have the Club ATV in the parade along with the Strawberry Shortcakes and water.  The only ones that worked were Dale, Edie and Bob Dennett.  There were several food trucks at the field, including one that sold ice cream. The information table there also had coolers full of free bottled water that were donated by Poland Springs. We did make $150.00 and sold 7 hats. At our spring meeting, we will discuss what we will do going forward for Family Fun Days.

We have received our second reimbursement payment from the state. Brian Bronson checked to see if we had any additional work that we needed to do and if yes, he would work on amending our grant to cover it. We had found out that work for the new east/west trail from north of Brochu Bridge to Canyon Trail would need to be done this year if possible. We talked with a contractor and they said they would be able to stump it and build a bridge this year if we wanted it done. The cost should be under $10,000 so Brian has amended our grant to cover that cost and finish out the year with our last 2 projects able to get done.

Trail Master’s Report: Dale Dunlap, breezy1@tdstelme.net

The section from Route 16 (by the transfer station) back towards Stratton has had a culvert, filter paper and rocks installed to give that a chance to get dried out.

The washout up on Tim Pass near where the road comes out on Tim Pond Road was fixed. 5 culverts that needed to be replaced on the road headed up to the pass were also done.

Maintenance on Canyon Trail, Rock Hill, and the upper part of Quill Hill trail was done by Fred. GCA will be grading the lower section of the trail from the yellow gate on Rt 16 to the narrow section up by Quill Hill next week.

Pines spills in the water holes going through the Cathedral Pines section were removed and filled with rock.

The excavator will be going back on Monday.

Fred and Dale will be walking the trail from Brochu Bridge trail up to the power line headed to Canyon next week with the contractor. It has been cut but will need stumping and a bridge over a small stream. We have the money to have a contractor do those 2 jobs.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 am.

Our next meeting will be on September 8th, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Stratton Community Building.
