Flagstaff Area ATV Club Meeting Minutes – May 20, 2018

24 members and guest were present. Meeting was started by President Edie Dunlap at 10:00 a.m. with pledge of allegianceWelcome everyone.

Presidents Report:  Edie Dunlap,  breezy1@tdstelme.net

  • Need a Secretary and a Treasurer. Please think about it we need you.
  • Sugarloaf Marathon donation for $100.00 motion made and carried.
  • F.A.B.A. membership, meeting and social at Carrabasset Library on Thursday, May 24th 5:30.  
  • June 22-24th – Family Fun Day. Theme is “Super Hero’s”. Parade starts at 11:00 a.m. at the CMP garage.  If you want to ride your ATV in the Parade be at the parking of CMP by 10:00 a.m.  Volunteers are needed on the 23rd to man the strawberry shortcake both and membership/T-shirt table.
  • We are submitting permit to CMP for our trail this week.
  • At the ATV Me Banquet/Meeting in April our volunteers received awards for over 40 hours of work on our trail.   Joe Marcoux, Carl Dahms, Joe Gallant and Shane Spaulding. Thank You guys : )
  • Club rides this season was voted on. One was Tim Pond, Bar Q Picnic, and a vote was made on Red Onion (Rangeley) or Tea Pond Lodge.  Nine to Six in favor of Red Onion in Rangeley. Will post the dates in next month’s minutes.
  • Memberships received was total 105 and 19 were businesses.
  • The checking cccount funds are looking fine to start this season off.
  • With Elaine’s help we got out 105 memberships packets on May 16th.
  • 50/50 Raffle was $17.00 winner was Dale Dunlap he donated back to the club.  Thanks Dale.
  • Edie, Joe and Sandy will work on the Municipal Grant later this week.

  • You will all notice that the State of Maine has put up the new state signs.  No UTV’s over 60” aloud on the landowners trails. The State has put these signs up per -request of the landowners not the club.  If we don’t follow the law we will lose more trails.

Trail Master Report:  Joe Marcoux, erm@myfairpoint.net

  • The club has delivered 170 new maps to businesses from Rangeley, Eustis and Stratton.
  • May 14th – The Club will be getting a price on a Brushing Company for our grant this year. I went around with Nathan to Butler Brook and Carrabassett Trails. We tried to do the Swamp Loop but were still too wet.
  • May 15th – I put signs up on the new trail on the Perry Rd. We will be sharing the new snowmobile trail with them. Please stay on MARKED trail per NEW landowner or we will lose IT!
  • May 16th – Dale and I did signage and cut trees on the Butler Brook Trail.
  • May 17th – Jimmy Brochu and I drove around the new Bone Yard Trail, Carrabassett Trail and on the other side of the Brochu Bridge to get a price for the grant and work to be done.  
  • May 18th – I did signage on the end of the airport road. I built a box bridge and Carl and I place it in the Stratton power line.
  • May 19th – I did signage on Rt 16. Delivered maps and donations boxes to local Business.  Carl, Joe G, Jeff and I put the portable bridge back in place on the Rt. 27 for joining the Carrabassett trail.  Carl, Joe G., Jeff and I went to work the Lake Loop. The trail is so damaged from the winter and logging it will be CLOSED for this season.  The trail to Natanis on Rt 27 (boardwalk) is CLOSED per landowner because it’s too wet to work.

Next meeting is June 10th Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Hall in Stratton.
