No Report at this time.

Trail Master Report: Joe Marcoux, erm@myfairpoint.net

Had a report of ATV’s speeding on Eustis Ridge Road and the dust was bad. Talked to the road commissioner and he agreed to have the ATV’s stay on the paved part of the road which cuts out the dust. Put up speed limit signs, directions to stay on paved road and set some cones to help them to remember to stay off the side of the road.

Spent two days with Brian Bronson on AFM trails checking out all the issues they are complaining about and what we need to do to fix them. As about 50 of the issues were from Intersection 23 to Wind Towers Brian said we needed to close that trail, work on keeping our trails open to Rangeley and between Stratton and Eustis and then go back to revisit that trail. Did a bridge on Bradbury Trail as we were crossing a stream that had fish in it.

Fixed the bridge in by Tea Pond that the guy that got lost damaged. Replace two boards on the surface and redid the ramps up to the bridge.

Tea Pond fixed the big water hole where Sawyer Brook crosses Tim Pond Road so the land owner would not shut that trail down. Spent a whole day with excavator, hauling in gravel and rocks and got rid of all the water. The cost for gravel and rock was $800.00 and we paid them $400.00 for ½ of it.

They also fixed a bridge, adding slats over the openings and worked on the boardwalk. Re-decked the snowmobile/atv bridge on the pole line by 16 so no dirt would fall down between the openings.

Removed a culvert and put a bridge on Cherry Run just before Canyon Trail. That is snowmobile and atv bridge as well. 12 feet wide.

Drained and removed rocks from a mud hole on John’s way. May need to put a bridge there as there is water running across the trail.

Set rocks on the intersection, town property, to keep the jeeps – trucks – cars from driving on the new trail across Perry Road. Signs were put up on Perry Road side saying Recreation trail no motorized vehicles (Jeeps, cars, suvs) on the trail as well.

Checked two bridges/boardwalks on the Carrabassett Trail that will need to be fixed. Brian wants to look at them and maybe go back to the state for additional funding as they are on state land.

Had gravel put on both sides of Caldwell Road.  Some brushing and signing has been done by the Jackson’s in the rabbit hollow area and Tim Pass. Sunday Aug 19 volunteers will be brushing Tim Pass.

Snowmobile trail may be using Bradbury Trail and Johnny at Pine’s Market would do the brushing on that trail for us so would not have to hire it done.

Next meeting September 9th Sunday at the town hall at 10:00 a.m. in Stratton.
