FLAGSTAFF AREA ATV CLUB
Easter - 4/8/07

President's Notes
The meeting was called to order at 10:00am.  Don followed up from the last meeting on the subject of asking the town for money.  If the club wants to do this, the request must be in by December with a petition of 25 registered voters signatures.  Individual towns do not get any money back from ATV registrations.  Don talked to ATV Maine about requesting this money from the state same as the snowmobilers.  They will be working on putting it on the agenda for next year.  ATV Maine's Joy Harvey is working on event insurance for us - more news to come later.
The Sportsman Show in Wilton was pretty good although it was affected by the snowstorm that we had.  Daniel Gallant of Rumford won the raffle for a two-night stay at the White Wolf Inn.  Daniel also won a membership to the Flagstaff Area ATV Club.  The show in Augusta went very well and there was a lot of interest.  Don has gone to all the businesses in town and discussed membership with them.  Ruthanne has made a sign to post at the town office offering membership to ATVers.  The Flagstaff Area Business Association has announced that Family Fun Days will be June 29th - July 1, 2007.  They are requesting sponsorship.  A motion was made and passed to donate $75.00 to help cover events.  We will also be selling strawberry shortcake again this year.  The club paid the Penobscott Indian Nation $300.00 for permits and they have already been received.  In looking at the Treasurer's Report Don stated that we are looking good for the upcoming season.

Membership Chair's Notes
As of April 8th response to our membership drive has been quite successful.  In just 3 weeks we have 136 returned members.  This includes 8 paid sponsors.  Please be aware that our year starts April 1 and ends March 31.  This months newsletter is complimentary to anyone that has not rejoined as of yet.  The cost of postage will prohibit us to continue that to nonmembers.  We are looking forward to another big year so mail in your applications now. Please note that you can download applications for membership by going to www.flagstaffareaatv.com.

Trail Master's Notes
On March 12th Dick set up a meeting with Plum Creek and the Kingfield Club about the Carrabassett-Kingfield connection.  It was too short of notification for Kingfield and they could not make it.  Dick met with Plum Creek and they gave us Stoney Brook Road for the connection.  Plum Creek is going to be logging in the section that Kingfield wanted.  On March 13th Don and Dick went to the Kingfield Quad Runners meeting to discuss their alternate route.  On March 17 & 18, Don, Phil, Pete and Dick manned the FABA booth at the Wilton Sportsman Show.  There was a great deal of interest in our trail system.  March 21, Don and Dick drove to Old Town to Indian Island with the Kingfield Club Officers to make our request for what we wanted.  The Nation gave us everything that we requested which was an alternate route out of Alder Stream and the Carrabassett connection.  March 29, Don, Phil, and Dick went to the Bigelow Preserve meeting in Farmington.  This was uneventful with the exception of a paragraph that said they were committed to giving us a trail through the Preserve.  April 1, Don and Dick walked a possible trail they are considering.  April 2, Dick received the two-signed permits from the Penobscott Nation, one for Alder Stream and One for Carrabassett.

The meeting adjourned at 11:00am
There were 9 members present.
