Flagstaff Area ATV Club Meeting Minutes – June 11, 2017

  • No Report

     Treasurer Report:  Elaine Marcoux,  erm@myfairpoint.net

  • No word on our Grant as of yet from the State.
  • We have paid out $715.75 ATV Me 490.00 dues, Sugarloaf Marathon 100.00, Bought 100 maps 68.58; Trail masters (gas) 125.75.
  • We deposited $1,475.00, membership 870.00, donation 25.00, postage 60 stamps and 355.00 from the lobster raffle.  We still 45.00 to sell out of the 750.00, maps 390.00 sold another 120, and we are under a hundred now so we brought another 100 maps this week.    
  • As of today we are doing o.k. as we start working our trails.
  • 50/50 Raffle was won by Don Plante $12.00 he gave it back to the Club Thank You Don.

  • We are doing well so far this year we have 146 members, last year at the time 146.  We got two new Businesses from Rangeley and Berwick.
  • As of now we are in need of a Secretary for the club, this position is a lot of fun and great members to speak with and hang out with.  If interested and just need it explained to what is required please call Elaine Marcoux 207 229 2055, or Edie Dunlap 207 643 2920?
  • Club ride to Tim Pond Camps will be July 15 Saturday rain or shine the food will be with or without cheese on burgers, hot dogs, potatoes salad and chips, cake, ice tea, lemonade, coffee, and water, platters of tomatoes, onion etc.   We have to have head count by July 8th if you would like to go please call Edie Dunlap at 643-2920 Cost is $12.00 p.p. and $2.00 tip p.p.  When we collect your money for the meal you will be giving a ticket for your meal and tip. We will collect on the trail when we stop for a break. The club will leave at 9:00 a.m SHARP from Eustis ATV Parking lot.
  • Club ride to Red Onion Restaurant in Rangeley will be Aug 19th rain or shine the food that you can pick from is one of 5 lunches, Really Good Burger with fries, Grilled Chicken sandwich with fries, Turkey Ranch Wrap with fries, Pastrami Rueben with fries or Small one  topping pizza. Plus your choice of soda, ice tea, coffee, lemonade and water, homemade choc chip cookie $12.00 p.p. and $2.00 tip p.p.  If anyone is interesting in going we will need head count before Aug 13th  please call Edie Dunlap at 643-2920 if you call make sure you say which one of the rides you are going on and remember if you cancel please call back to cancel. We will post this again in next month newsletter for the final head count.
  • Family Fun Day is June 24th Saturday theme is Pirates of Flagstaff. Any help from members would be appreciated this is our only and biggest fund raiser of the year. Please call Edie Dunlap if you can help 643-2920. Please stop by and enjoy this event and buy great food, French Fries, Fry Dough, Strawberry Shortcake, Water, ATV Clothes, renewal and new memberships.

  • Moose Trail is open and maps are being printed. Our sister Clubs are excited and working on their connecting trails. Carrabassett Club is working on a connector to Lexington. Good news for riders.
  • The Club is very sad for the closing of a very special landowner. We appreciate all the years there have giving to the ATV club for using the trail through their property. SORRY that some people don’t respect the landowners property.

  • May 22/23:  Joe, Carl, Shane and Joe G. rebuild another bridge on the Carrabassett Trail.
  • May 24:  Joe and Carl worked on cutting trees on the Lake Loop.
  • May 25:  Joe and Carl cut tress on the Butler Brook trail.
  • May 26:  Joe and Bill from AFM checked out Cherry Run a culvert needs to be fixed.
  • May 27:   Joe, Jeff, Joyce and Elaine filled in culverts, cut trees, signage, and drainage and brushing to wind tower.
  • May 29:   Joe and Shane cuts tree and signage Stratton trail.
  • June 10:  Joe helped a Landowner close his trail to ATV’s and temperedly reroute around his land until another trail is made. We have to check with two other landowners for permission and make a trail and do signage.  So please watch for signs when leaving Eustis ATV Parking on how to get to your trail.
  • Next week I will be meeting with the forestry of Plum Creeks to go trails to Natanis.
  • Quill Hill and its trail, per landowner not opening until Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
  • All members are encouraged to take pictures of anyone on ATV’s destroying our trails or breaking the rules and send the picture to the warden service at scott.m.stevens@maine.gov  or call 1800-452-4664.

Next month meeting is Sunday, July 9th at the Community Hall in Stratton at 10:00 a.m. Please join us!

  • Foliage Club Ride possibilities was table to a later date.

  • Amendment to amend motion to give the landowners a Magnetic Postcard with clubs phone number and game wardens number on it for a call if needed for any wrong doings on their property. 1800-452-4664.
  • Donation to Sugarloaf Marathon Charity Run was carried to pay $100.00.

  • Moose Loop Trail is being worked on and hope that will be lots of good riding this year.
  • Municipal Grant has been submitted to the State. We want to thank Jimmy for helping us on short notice and getting the info we needed to finalize that grant.   We have to send out many many thanks to Edie, Sandie and Zythea Berry for ALL the hard work done also.

Treasurer Report:  Elaine Marcoux — erm@myfairpoint.net

  • We have paid out $2,099.50.  Little League – $100.00, Flagstaff Flag – $35.00, Family Fun Day – $50.00, Regis new trailer – $77.00, Tom our map person – $200.00, Maps – $343.00, Website bill – $312.50, ATV Me memberships – $910.00, stamps for packets – $70.00.
  • We deposited $2,316.00. Memberships – $1,610.00, Clothes – $136.00, Donations – $170.00, Maps – $440.00.(110 sold)
  • As we start our season as of now we are doing o.k.
  • 50/50 Raffle was won by Phil Hill – $17.00.

Membership Report: Elaine Marcoux  — erm@myfairpoint.net

  • We are doing very well so far this year we have 129 members, last year at the time 122.
  • All packets will be mailed out May 22, 2017.
  • With regret our Secretary Rosemarie has stepped down for personal reasons.  We want to thank her for getting us up and running for our memberships this season.
  • As of now we are in need of a Secretary for the club, this position is a lot of fun and great members to speak with and hang out with.  If interested and just need it explained to what is required please call Elaine Marcoux 207 229 2055, or Edie Dunlap 207 643 2920?

Trail Master Report:  Joe Marcoux — erm@myfairpoint.net

  • April 30 – Joe and Carl cut trees on the plum creek road.
  • May 3-4 – Joe, Carl and Joe G. Rebuilt Plum Creek bridge.
  • May 18 – Joe and Carl checked out Carrabassett and Billions Pine trail need to repair a bridge and replace a couple of culverts.
  • May 19 – Joe and Carl worked on the new bone yard trail making drainage per request of landowners.
  • May 20 – Joe, Carl and Elaine checked out Swamp, Cannon loop and Tea Pond trail, cut trees, move trees and picked up trash.
  • Shane and Joe G have been working on fixing signage and replacing with new signs.
  • Need to call Wagner on Cannon Loop saw logging equipment in that area.
  • Quill Hill and its trail, per landowner not opening until June 24, 2017.
  • Scott Stevens asked about the new rules on ONLY ATV’S 60”wide allowed.   Landowners are requesting these signs giving by the state of Maine to be put up on landowners property, this is our whole trail system please request the Landowners REQUEST!  It will be enforced. Or we will lose our TRAILS!

  • Trails open per landowners on the 27th of May 2017.  Enjoy and travel safe remembers respect the landowners land or we will LOSE IT!

Flagstaff Area ATV Club Meeting Minutes – April 9th, 2017

Thirty three (33) guests and members were present. The meeting was brought to order at 10:00 am by President Edie Dunlap with the pledge of allegiance.

Presidents Report: Edie Dunlap (breezy1@tdstelme.net)

  • Club rides were discussed, with motion being made and carried to ride to Tim Pond (July or August), Red Onion in Rangeley and a ride to have a picnic in Sept. for foliage
  • Instead of having Landowners picnic this year a motion was made and carried to give the landowners a plaque of appreciation.
  • Don Plant will be taking care of the Lobster Raffle tickets
  • June 24 will be the Family Fun Days, the theme this year is Pirates of Flagstaff. We will have strawberry  shortcake, fried dough, french fries. Elaine Marcoux will be manning the clothes and membership table from 10:00 am to 12 noon. Someone will be needed to do the noon to 2:00 pm shift.
  • Motion was made and carried to give $100.00 for a 2×4 sign advertising our club on the Stratton Little League fence.
  • Motion made and carried to donate $35.00 to Flags over Flagstaff.
  • Motion made and carried to give our map maker $200.00 this year and $100.00 every year forward.

Treasurers Report: Elaine Marcoux  (erm@myfairpoint.net)

  • We are starting off great for this second month of our season. We have deposited $2380.00 in memberships and out of that $545.00 was donations from our businesses and members. Thank you for your support, it is appreciated.
  • We got an itemized bill from the snowmobile club for work that was done for our new trail pass going by the boneyard. The club agreed in October for the treasurer to pay all bills associated with the boneyard trail, for excavation work up to $5000.00.  The total was $8773.75, we offered $4000.00 which was accepted and paid
  • We paid out $4136.50 this month for our donations, bills, and ATVME Membership.

  • We have 10 businesses and 63 members for a total of 73 members so far this year. Last year at this time we had 61 members.
  • I am sending out 28 news letters to members at this time.

Trail Masters Report:  Joe Marcoux (erm@myfairpoint.net)

  • I have sent out the landowners permits and we are starting to get some back. We are all set with the permit on the Indian land trail.
  • We will be rebuilding the bridge on Plum Creek Rd the first couple weeks of May (weather permitting)
  • A call was made to AFM Thurs and I left a message on permission for the trails this year.

Flagstaff Area ATV Club Meeting Minutes – March 12th, 2017

Twenty one (21) guest and members were present. The meeting was brought to order at 10:00 a.m. by former President Don Plante with the pledge of allegiance.

Presidents Report:  Edie Dunlap  (breezyacrescamps.com)

  • Don Plante turned over the Presidency to Edie Dunlap of Breezy Acres. Motion was made, accepted to elect Edie as President. Welcome Edie.
  • Huts & Trails has agreed to fix the trail from Route 27 to the North Branch Bridge and was agreed as a combined trail.
  • Don will stay on the trail account in order to pay bills for trail maintence until Edie has moved.
  • What are our plans this year for Club rides? Red Onion Restaurant, Tea Pond, Tim Pond and the Sugar Bowl.  We need to think about our landowner picnic, what, how and if we want to do something.
  • We will be getting 150 Lobster Raffle tickets again this year; this is one of our biggest fund raiser. Hope club members will help to sell them.
  • Motion made and carried to join FABA as member ($100.00) again, also to donate to the Pine Tree Society ($100.00) again, donate money for new hockey rink for equipment for the children in Stratton ($200.00).

  • Shared the highlights on what a person need to do on writing a Tiff / Municipality Grant. We are looking for a person/member to step up and volunteer to do this GRANT in order for us not to LOSE a major trail from Stratton to Carrabassett.

Treasurer Report:  Elaine Marcoux  (erm@myfairpoint.net)

  • We filed our annual tax report on March 3, 2107.  $35.00
  • In November and December we sold the old large trailer and small trailer, $500.00. We collected $96.00 from Rev It Up and the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce for maps last year.
  • We have a club member Jeff Mercer that has donated a Laptop to the club, he also bought and downloading things that we would need for our type of work for the club. The officers agreed to send Jeff $100.00 in and thank you for our appreciation on all the work and donation he did for the club.  We also brought a copier, scanner, fax, printer for the clubs files and documents.  Total for all things including thank you card was $400.00.
  • The club voted to stay with ATV Me as members. We need them in order to keep our landowners happy with liability insurance. Cost is $30.00 per year for membership.  Also we will be sending Edie, Dale, Joe and Elaine to the ATV Banquet on April 15th this year.
  • Motion was made and carried that we bring the price of the map up to $4.00 this year, to allow for the heavier, glossy, colored, both side of our new map. You will get a new map when you renew your membership.  It will be in your packet the third week of May.  If you want another one for whatever reason (extra, lost) you will have to pay $4.00.

  • We have 2 businesses, one new Red Onion Restaurant Rangeley also 15 members and one new also. We had seven renewals at the meeting bring the total to 24 to start our season off.
  • While at Red Onion, I saw an ATV rules sign in the window for ATV road access. I got a copy of it and will be adding it in the packets for new and renewals members.
  • In December a member Gary Lucas sent $100.00 for the heavy paper for our new maps, thank you Gary. Plus wanted to pay for two friends of his 2017 membership dues.  Wanted to give it to them as a Christmas stocking stuffer.   I sent created Christmas Certificates to him so he could give to his friends.  Thanks Gary.

Trail Master Joe Marcoux Report:  (erm@myfairpoint.net)

  • First project will be decking a bridge on the plum creek road.
  • Need to speck with Jimmy Brochu on fixing the Carrabassett trail.  We need to fix it or we will lose it, a Municipality grant for that trail will be needed.  Also need to speak with him on the trail from Rt 16 to Brochu Bridge which needs to be graded per AFM.
  • Need to check out the new trail for the bone yard Stratton trail, to make sure we have the correct drainage and culverts.
  • Beginning next month I will start getting Landowners permission for this year season. Does the club want to ask the Indians for the few miles again this year at $150.00?     May 27 to September 1.
  • Shane will update me when he return from Florida on our signage by May’s meeting.

First 2017 Meeting on Sunday, March 12th

The Flagstaff ATV Club will hold its first meeting of 2017 on Sunday, March 12th at 10:00 a.m in the Community Hall located in Stratton. We hope to see you all there to start off our club’s topics and fun season. Travel Safe!
