FLAGSTAFF AREA ATV CLUB MEETING   4/10/11

1.)  Meeting brought to order at 10AM with the Pledge of Allegiance by Don Plante damp@tds.net.  Till further notice please use Dooer@tds.net for any inquiries, Don is having computer issues.  17 members present and 2 guests

2.) Presidents Report:  Don Plante

  • The club received a thank you from the Pine Tree Society
  • Motion made and passed to give the Pine Tree Society $75.00 again this year
  • We received a request for  the Sugarloaf  Marathon for a donation, a motion was made and passed to give them $50.00
  • A thank you was received from FABA for doing the Winslow show
  • FABA family Fun days is June 24,25,26
  • FABA asked for a donation, motion was made and passed to give them $100.00
  • We will be in the same area again this year for shortcake and doughboys
  • Stratton recreation Summer program contacted us  for the kids ride on Wednesday July 27.  A motion was made and passed to take the kids on a ride again this year.  The rain date will be July 28th
  • There was talk about giving the associated member a discount rate, this will be thought about and discussed at the May 15th meeting
  • We have new shirts, caps, vests, and hoodie sweatshirts for sale.  See STORE for merchandise
  • The new kickoff date for the Moose Loop Trail  is June 25th in Rangeley, Sandi Isgro will be there to represent our club. Senator Olympia will also be present
  • The club is looking into a ride on part of the Moose Loop Trail on June 26th
  • Motion made and passed to give Bob Dennett $100.00 for the Tour de Cure ride for diabetes
  • The toy ride will be September 24th

  • All bills have been paid

5.)  Membership Secretary:  Ruthanne Smith Dooer@tds.net

  • At this time we have 178 paid members.  Once again I want to thank everyone for the support they are showing for our club.  The more support we have , the more we can accomplish

6.)  Trail Master Report:  Dick Smith Dooer@tds.net

  • March 18th &19th Don and I set up for the Sportsmans Show in Winslow.  Friday was a little slow, but Saturday was busy.  We spoke with lots of people.  Saturday PM Phil Hill and Jeff Bureau took over and said is was very busy.  Sunday Ray and Nancy Charest and Pete and Edie Manter manned the booth. they were also very busy during the midday
  • March 21st Don and I went to the White Wolf for a meeting with the High Peaks Alliance on the Moose Loop Trail
  • March 26th Don and I did a TV interview on WSKI  at Sugarloaf. We spoke about the club and new Moose Loop Trail
  • March 31st I went to a county commissioners meeting in Farmington on the availability of  TIF  funds for trails.  I want to try to get some funding for the Caribou Pond Loop.  There is approsimately $27,000 Plus or Minus available.   It  looks like there is a good possibility that we could get some
  • April 4th  Don and I went to Augusta for a meeting on Bill LD175.   That is the 10 day permit that Don has been working on with one  of the representatives.  Don spoke in favor of it as did the lobbiest from ATV Maine
  • I am still waiting to hear from the land owners on the new connector trail that I have requested
  • We have access into Eustis Village and Trails End is a new sponsor

7.)   GuestSpeaker:  Western Maine Representative for ATV Maine  Mike Worthley

  • Showed us a map of  approved ATV trail in the State of Maine
  • Showed us new numbered signs  that will designate North and South trails by odd numbers East and West by even numbers
  • Shared upcoming ATV events for Roxbury ATV riders club and Westerm Maine ATV clubs see club links
